UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The United Methodist Women is comprised of women coming together to do mission work. We support the missions of our church and the community by our projects and fundraisers. In addition, participation in UMW is a good way to make friends, support our sisters in faith, and share God’s provisions with others. We pray together, give together and grow spiritually together. UMW is comprised of three circles:

Mary Martha Circle meets the second Wednesday of every month in the Keheley Center Fellowship Hall at 9:30 a.m.

Esther Circle meets the second Monday of every month in the Community Room at 7 p.m.

Ruth Circle meets the fourth Monday of every month in the Fellowship Hall at 1 p.m.

Blanket Ministry-Our blanket ministry makes and gives blankets to our church and community to those who are grieving, hospitalized or for those who have a baby. LOCAL MISSIONS

We have many opportunities to be involved in local missions within our community. There are three ongoing missions:
Peter’s FlockThis mission focuses on two or three families within the community. Staple items are provided monthly.  Through this ministry, we are building a relationship with the family and may also guide them toward help in job searches, budgeting and other needs.  We provide physical and spiritual nourishment as well. Usually no money is involved with this ministry. You may get involved with this ministry by donating the food items needed on the list available in the office or help with delivering the food.
Good Samaritan–This mission is involved with church families and some people from the community on a one-time basis.  There is a budgeted amount under the Missions budget that is used to help with rent and utilities or to provide Kroger gift cards.  This fund is  available to church families who may struggle due to loss of job or other economic situations.  It also helps persons in the community who may need one-time assistance with rent, utilities, gas, or food. Part of the Good Samaritan budget is also donated to MUST.  When you give to the church, part of your money supports all of our missions as well as Good Samaritan.
MUST–MUST is Ministries United in Service and Training. They not only provide shelter and food for the homeless but training in budgeting and other life skills.  They also have an excellent medical clinic. There are many opportunities to serve at MUST.  A group presently helped clean out apartments at Shepherd’s Walk which is part of MUST’s transitional housing. During the summer, our men’s and women’s groups have provided lunches for MUST summer lunch program which feeds children who would not have anything to eat during the day. We also collect special items throughout the year as they are needed.

For more information about any of these missions, please contact Rev. Angie 770-926-3488 or email angie@thepumpkinchurch.org

We also reach out to church families that need an extra hand around the house. This fall we formed a softball team to encourage more fellowship among the men and families of St. Andrew.
