Christmas Moments

Luke 2:4-15

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another,
“Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

Christmas has arrived, and with it comes the invitation to pause and truly breathe. In the midst of holiday busyness, wherever you find yourself today, whether your heart is joyful, weary, or searching—take a moment to reflect. Have you witnessed the wonder that God has shared with us, the miracle that the Lord promised?

Even when the world feels overwhelming and noisy, it’s easy to overlook the gentle presence of Jesus among us. The news and daily life may draw our attention to trouble, but beneath it all, kindness continues to shine. Jesus is present in the everyday moments: in the hands that reach out to help a stranger, the smiles that let others go first, and the patient ears that take the time to listen. Consider the story of a member of our congregation who quietly paid for a neighbor’s groceries, expecting nothing in return. That simple gesture lifted a burden and brought hope, serving as a gentle reminder of Christ’s love at work.

Notice how Jesus walks through our gatherings, softly guiding and encouraging—sometimes with just a word, a touch, or a smile. There is a special sparkle in someone’s eyes as they offer kindness, a light that moves from person to person, transforming ordinary interactions into sacred moments.

This Christmas let us open our eyes and hearts to these moments, recognizing and participating in the quiet ways love is shared. The true miracle is found in the actions of those who go out to see “this thing that has happened,” becoming the hands, feet, eyes, and voice of Jesus in our world. Will you look for these glimpses of grace—or even be one who brings them?
