Psalm 23:3

"He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake." (Psalm 23:3)

"He restores my soul." Not just my circumstances, not just my mood, but my very soul. There's a kind of spiritual exhaustion that comes from trying to be good enough, do enough, fix enough on our own. We accumulate regrets, carry shame, and start to wonder if we're beyond repair. When we restore something, we bring it back to wholeness. It means that God doesn't just patch us up. God actually heals us at the deepest level.

Here at the midpoint between the 4th and 5th Sundays in Lent, there’s a pivot point in our Lenten journey. We're past the initial shock of giving things up or taking on spiritual disciplines, and we're starting to feel the weight of our own limitations. This is exactly where restoration becomes real. We're led in "paths of righteousness" not because we're already righteous, but because God is leading us toward it. The path itself is the gift. We don't have to figure it all out. We just have to trust the shepherd enough to follow. How freeing it is to abandon our own sense of control to allow ourselves to be fully restored by God.

If your soul feels worn down today, know that restoration is possible. It doesn't require you to clean yourself up first or get your act together. It starts with admitting you need help and then letting yourself be led toward wholeness.
