Do I Love God?

If anyone says I love God, but hates his brother, he is a liar. If anyone who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

1 John 4:20

Does it seem like hatred of one another, groups of people by country, religion, ethnicity seem to be increasing? While we have have always had scapegoats to isolate or exclude, the trend seems to be increasing. We see it in violence towards one another: school violence, street violence, work violence, separation of churches, and legislation. Why do we have such deep seated fears and hostility towards one another?

Ask yourself "do I love God?" Do I follow His commandments to love all people? Remember we can love one another even if we don't approve or  condone how that person acts.God loves us regardless of our missteps. We can not continually break His commandments, ask for forgiveness yet continue to commit the sin.

God has eternal patience and pardons. We continue to read our Scripturess and try to follow his teachings. Each of us has a part of Christ in our souls. We need to remember and practice these commandments. The  most important ones: love God, love all people, help those in need.

We can all be Christ-like on earth by practicing those commandments each and everyday.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to remember we are made in your image, We need to live each day as your agent on earth by practicing your commandments. Please give us the strengthnand skill to do your will. Amen
