God Is Not Stingy

2 Corinthians 9:11

In a bible study, a wonderfully wise woman made a profound statement. She declared in response to one scripture, “God is not stingy.” It was the perfect way to describe God’s generosity. God doesn’t hold back in giving. God obviously does not do a lot of accounting when giving. If He did, He may have seen the gift of Jesus as too costly…or maybe God’s accounting is just different than ours. Whatever God’s economy looks like, God is indeed not stingy!

God’s nature is overflowing with generosity. From the beauty of creation to the gift of Jesus, every act of God reveals His heart to give abundantly. When we choose to be generous—with our time, resources, or love—we reflect that same divine character. Genesis 1: 26-27 tells us that we have all been made in God’s image. If we are made like God, then our natural state is to be generous like God as well. And yet our brokenness causes us to be stingy, selfish, and covetous.

As we think about how we are being good stewards of God’s gifts, we can remember that generosity is not measured by how much we give, but by the heart behind it. God never gives reluctantly or sparingly; God gives joyfully and completely. When we open our hands to bless others, we not only meet their needs but also become instruments of God’s goodness into the world. God created us in God’s image, and we serve a generous God.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your endless generosity toward me. Help me to give freely, just as You have given to me. Let my generosity be a reflection of Your love and a light that draws others to You. Amen.
